Mary L. Lehman
She was born June 9, 1933 in Binghamton, NY and was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. George and Sarah Jane Hamilton and her former husband, Dr. John W. Lehman II M.D.
She received her B.S. from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing in 1957 and she taught nursing at Temple University School of Nursing, McKeesport Hospital, and the Community College of Beaver County. She loved teaching and always enjoyed encountering her former students.
Mary Lu was an avid golfer who played in several leagues, a bridge player always trying to improve her game and a world traveler. She traversed the globe from Alaska to Antarctica, Australia, Europe, Egypt and the Middle East. She was always up for anything, zip lining through the treetops of South American jungles, hitting the ski slopes of Colorado, or taking on any and all roller coasters. She also showed horses from the family barn, High Tail Stables, was an active participant in the Beaver Junior Woman’s Club, playing parts in their children’s plays, volunteering with the Medical Center Auxiliary, and she was a former Deacon of Park Presbyterian Church in Beaver.
Mary Lu was always thoughtful, kind and generous with her family and friends. She led by example and was the first to offer help or assistance whether it was a cake or casserole for a grieving friend, or loaning her silver candlesticks for a dinner party. She provided her family with many opportunities and experiences.
She is survived by her three children, Laurey (Keith) Schweinsberg, Betsy (Dan) Scheidemantel, and John (Angie) Lehman. She was a beloved Grammie to Sadie and Sam Schweinsberg, Sarah (Adam) Morrison, Andrew and Luke Scheidemantel, and Olivia, Teddy, and Abby Lehman. She is also survived by her sister Sarah Jane Godfrey and nieces Kristen and Kiley, her cousin Dr. David (Gretta) Storrs and her special friend of many years, Raymond Henry Dewey.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Beaver with a private interment to take place at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.
