John "Jack" T. Haaf

John T. “Jack” Haaf, 88, of Beaver passed away Thursday morning, July 14, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver surrounded by his family.

Born May 4, 1928 in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lillian Haaf and had been a resident of Brighton Township and Beaver for over 50 years.  A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a chemical engineer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Baltimore, MD.  Jack graduated in 1952 from Manhattan College and later attended PITT, garnering his Professional Engineer License and later attained a Financial Analyst Certification. He began his career as an industrial engineer at United States Steel Corp., he then became Superintendent of the Electric Furnace Division at Crucible Steel, Colt Industries, Midland, working there for 20 years.  He later retired as a Financial Manager and Broker with Payne Weber. Jack was an avid golfer and member of Deer Trails Country Club, Industry, PA, where he also served on the Board of Directors for many years.  During his retirement he and Janet along with fellow golfing friends enjoyed many pleasant golf trips up and down the East Coast.  Jack loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he spent countless hours bragging about.  He also loved gardening and sharing his opinions in “Letters to the Editor” in the Beaver County Times.  Jack was a faithful member and lector of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver.

Surviving Jack is his beloved wife of 61 years, Janet A. Scanlon Haaf, Beaver; three sons, Kevin J. (Cindy) Haaf, Monaca, Keith J. (Trudy) Haaf, Staunton, VA, and Kenneth J. (Lori Spickerman) Haaf, New Brighton; two daughters, Sharon A. (Albert) Correia, Milford, MA and Shanna M. (Tim) Barton, San Antonio, TX; eleven grandchildren, Thomas Haaf, Samantha (Rodney Biskup) Haaf, Keith J. (Jenna) Haaf, Jr., Robert and Danielle Haaf, Alexis (Chris) Forgit, Emily Correia, Patrick, Jordan, Joshua, and Caleb Barton; along with four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Landon, and Leena Haaf, and Chase Forgit.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph “Mickey” Haaf.

Friends will be received Monday, July 18, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Fr. Robert Miller Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 10:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver. Private entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, Moon Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 200 East End Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009.
