Born November 13, 1928 in Pignataro Maggiore, Italy, she immigrated to the US with her family. She earned a degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh and taught Spanish for a number of years at Beaver, Blackhawk and Hopewell school districts. Filomena enjoyed reading, playing bridge, golfing and baking. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, PA Association of Retired Teachers, Ohioview Industry Women’s Club, Fort MacIntosh Ladies Auxiliary and a longtime volunteer at the Beaver Library.
Filomena was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Josephine Palumbo, her loving husband, Albert Troiano; brother, Peter Palumbo; and sister, Mary Pontano.
She is survived by two sons, David (Kathleen) Troiano, and Mark (Jan) Troiano; daughter Karen (John) Shelar; six grandchildren, Ryan (Jen) Troiano, Lauren (Mikel) Hoffman, Liza (Jonathan) Williamson, Katlyn Shelar, Christopher (Jamie) Troiano and Nicholas Shelar; and four great-grandchildren, Joel, Emmett, Hope and Haven.
A private family visitation and service was held in her honor.
