Betty K. Steege
Born September 9, 1932 in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ethlyn Tarazano. Betty devoted her life to the education of students in Western Pennsylvania, beginning her career as a high school teacher with the Monaca and Rochester School Districts. She went on to earn her Masters and Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh. Betty became the Dean of Academic Services at the Community College of Beaver County, eventually being named the first female Dean of CCBC. Later in her career, Betty worked as a financial adviser with Equitable.
Her community activities included positions as a former President of the Junior Women’s Club, former Beaver Councilwoman and board member of the United Way of Beaver County, along with many other local organizations.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, David J. Williams and Judge Peter O. Steege; brothers, James Tarazano, Charles Tarazano, Donald Tarazano; sister, Donita Tarazano Ralston.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Elizabeth (Edward) Lindsay, Palm Desert, CA, and Trilby (Mark) Reehl, New Brighton; step-son, Andrew (Karen) Steege, Charlotte, NC; step-daughters, Carin Baker, Ohioville, and Jane Steege, Monaca; grandchildren, Jessica Timulak, Emily (Will) Toman, Mathew Adams, and Elizabeth (Justin) Prentice; along with great-grandchildren, Brandon Meyer, Owen Timulak, Paislee and Jace Prentice, Maddox and Paxon Huot, and Henry and Sawyer Toman.
Friends will be received Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver, where a funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to the United Way of Beaver County, 3582 Brodhead Road, Suite 205, Monaca, PA 15061.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Concordia, Villa of St. Joseph Personal Care and Good Samaritan Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Betty.
