Ann P. (Cunningham) Oakes, 85, of Vanport Township passed away early Sunday morning, January 22, 2017.
Born June 28, 1931 in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Alberta (Mennell) Cunningham. Ann graduated from New Brighton High School in 1949, continuing her education at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, where she earned a degree in Business Education. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at Lincoln High School, Midland where she spent 7 years before moving on to Beaver Area High School for another 13. Ann was a faithful and vital member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, and also actively participated in the community as a volunteer with the First Presbyterian Church office, a docent at the Beaver Area Historical Association Log Cabin Museum, and as a member of the Century Club. Since August of 2013, she had resided at Beaver Meadows Assisted Living, Brighton Township.
Ann will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 60 years, John “Jack” R. Oakes; two daughters, Pamela (Mark “Skip” Federoff) Oakes, Vanport Township, and Paula (John) Misorski, Brighton Township; her cherished grandchildren, Alex (Lisa) Barney, MS, Shawn (Lindsey Wilson) Barney, Hopewell Township, Lance (Hillary Barwick) Barney, TN, and Matthew and Megan Misorski, Beaver; along with 2 great-grandchildren, Ada and Beckham Barney. Ann adored her grandchildren and gave them all nicknames, fondly calling them Ax, Shawny Bonny Barney, Lancelot, Matt Hatter, and Meg Mug.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Cunningham.
Friends will be received Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. A funeral service will be conducted by her pastor, Reverend Jeffrey A. Arnold, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, with interment to follow at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. Online condolences may be shared at nollfuneral.com.

Thank you so very much for your kind expression of sympathy in our time of sorrow, you were there for us from beginning to end, plus more. You prepared Rocky in such a handsome and peaceful way, prior to that viewing I saw only pain and suffering. It helped remind me of peaceful and happy times. What else can a grateful heart say.

Everyone at Noll's guided us through all the details. We did not have to worry about the schedule or anything, other than to spend time with family and friends as we shared and grieved together. Thank you for removing all the stress and concerns from those days. You have all been a Blessing!!

Mark, Alex & Staff Our family is very grateful for the caring and thoughtful way you handled Marian's viewing and service. We thought the work done by Patty on the pictures was tremendous as it brought out the essence of Marian & it was a nice tribute to her. The viewing set up and floral arranging was very nice, we thank you for kindly handling our every request. It was also supportive to know that all the visitors would receive a friendly welcome at the door even long after normal visiting hours. And we only see what’s not “behind the scenes”. It’s obvious these things are well done too. Your help with things beyond the funeral itself is also much appreciated.
